MEDEA DESIGN AND TIMELINE REDESIGN

3rd Year Design Project
Medea an ancient Greek play about a woman who takes revenge on her husband after he leaves her for another woman. I felt the themes held up well to the modern day, so designed using research on Ancient Greek staging and fashion, but with a few modern twists to show its timelessness. The creatures of Greek mythology were also an inspiration for the project, with each character being attached to one that represents them.

3rd Year Design and Making Project
After the initial design project we were assigned a date (1950) and a colour (neon orange) to redesign the play for. From my research into 1950 I decided this interpretation would be based on 1950s Hollywood and took inspiration from clothing from films set in 1950. I then created the costume for my design of Medea, sewing a dress and petticoat, creating a hat, and ironing reflective strips on to the skirt.
